Jingle all the way...

Hello, hello,

We have not kept to our promise at all! As you can imagine we are super busy at the moment and unfortunately we have been slacking on some things, also we don't really have a lot of exciting updates at the moment! Don't worry as soon as more exciting things happen this blog will be updated MUCH more frequently.

In other exciting news it is NEARLY CHRISTMAS!!! I love Christmas, everything about it is magically to me still and I get super excited every single year. Now this year we have said that we will not be buying presents as we are trying to save so instead we are DIY-ing all of our presents! It is actually really fun and I hope that everyone who receives one really likes their presents, I've tried to make everyone's slightly different. However enough about that as I do have family and friends who follow the blog and I don't want to giveaway their presents!

But if you aren't related to me and fancy a little tip sheet on DIY presents then check out my journal over at gapdaemon but this is strictly off limits to any family and friends! You have been warned! :)

For all of you perhaps planning a gap year or travel adventure then definitely check out the other articles/journals on gapdaemon there's some really helpful hints and tips and it is definitely a very valuable resource to have!

In other travel related news I have had all of my vaccinations so I am now ready to travel and Dan is going to be jabbed this week! All we have left to do now on the medical front is to buy our malaria tablets and put together a first aid kit. We now only have about 2 months and 2 weeks left, and the time is flying by! Less than 2 months at work and then we can start packing! So expect the blog to be updated more frequently once Christmas has been and gone :) and if I don't manage to talk to you before,

We wish you a Merry Christmas.

Busy, busy busy....

Well we have been ridiculously slack at this blog over the past month, unfortunately both me and Dan are SO busy working all hours under the sun to pay for our adventure that we haven't had much time to see each other let alone start planning! However now that we are under four months for the countdown the planning definitely has to start in earnest!

I've been looking at all of the countries in SE Asia for the past few weeks but every time I get to the topic of border crossings and Visa's something magically distracts me and I seem to put it off for a few more days!

So by December I am determined to have SE Asia planned out and have our Vietnam visa applied for, then it's one more item ticked off the list.

At the moment from a vague discussion with Dan, it looks like we'll be spending a week ish in Northern Thailand when we arrive, then crossing over to Laos for a week, two weeks in Vietnam, two weeks in Cambodia, a week on a beautiful Thai Island, and then a week to get to Singapore (whilst also sightseeing) when we will then fly to Australia. It's going to be a ridiculously busy two months but I think that's the only way we are going to fit a lot of it in!

I will definitely try to update the blog quicker than I have been, I might even persuade Dan to write a few posts as he is definitely a more interesting writer than I am.

But for now I will leave you with a view we should hopefully be seeing in a few months!

Startin' to feel nomadic...

So we've had a fairly rare weekend off together and decided it was about time I get my backpack. I generally pride myself on being pretty laid back, easy going. Don't like to make a fuss.

But every backpack I've tried so far has not been up to scratch. We tried both the travel stores in Taunton. What a let down.

So, yesterday we headed for Bristol! The very first store we went in, Nomad, I found two packs that I loved, and after a few hours pacing the streets, eventually made up my mind on which to get.

It's called an Osprey Farpoint 55. The main pack holds 55 liters and it has a day-sack attached which I think is probably about 10/15 liters. Cost me £100.00 and I think it's well worth it.

Props to the guy in Nomad who helped out with the fit and stuff, I don't know if he got commission on the sale but he knew what he was doing!

Outfit of the Day - With a difference!

I've taken a bit of time out of work today to snap some photos of my backpack in between the random bursts of rain we seem to be getting!

I am slightly windswept but I thought as it's a backpack photo it should really be done in the great outdoors!

I love my backpack! I think it's fab, it's a Vango 60 + 20 and its the comfiest backpack I tried (and I did try a lot!) I would also really recommend the guys over at the Wearhouse for being super helpful!

Here are the photos as promised! Let me know what you think!

I'm trying to think of some various planning posts to do but let me know if there's anything you'd like to see me blog about!

Backpacks

Well the great hunt for the legendary backpack has begun! We spent the morning in town hunting for backpacks. It was all very interesting. I was told that I have a weirdly small back and whatever backpack I get my back will most likely be too small for it...... slightly unhelpful really.

There are also not enough feminine backpacks on the market! Now I know having a backpack is of course more about the fit and the comfort of the backpack than the overall look, but as I've got to cart the thing around for a whole year I would actually like it to look nice! However the backpack world does not seem to have caught up to this fact just yet....

Anyway after a two hour hunt of a lot of different backpacks, back analysis and a bit of a grump (from me!) I actually came across a pink backpack (which funnily enough Dan wanted in the black but unfortunately didn't fit him!).

My backpack is a Vango 60 + 20 and pictures will be provided in due course once I do a test run! It seems MASSIVE, unfortunately I couldn't find a smaller backpack so this will have to do!

Dan didn't unfortunately find a backpack today so the hunt is still on going for him so expect some updates in that area soon hopefully!

I did also get some rather cute Merrell trekking sandals. Not the most fashionable things I've ever seen and I doubt I'll win any awards wearing them, but they are relatively stylish and practical and my feet should be very happy in them!

So all in all a very successful (and somewhat pink!) day for me! Dan is still on the shopping look out! Oh well I never need much of an excuse to shop!

Hello and Welcome...

Hello,

Well this is the first post in what should be a fabulously long travel blog!

Check out the "About Us" section for more about my boyfriend and I aka "Lucy and the Wolfe".

We are embarking on our Round the World adventure in March 2012, but I have lots of planning to do before that so stay tuned for travel updates!

Bye for now!
