Collapsing and Puking

So the New Year is upon us. This particular new year is filled with promise for me and my lady. Great journeys on the high seas, through the third world, on to civilisation and back again. In fact if she has anything to do with it (which she will, because I generally want nothing to do with any of it, planning-wise), it will be more jam packed than a really thoroughly packed jam sandwich.

Unfortunately New Years itself was a let down. As it usually is in all fairness, however this year seemed like more of a let down than the standard. I had to work, you see, on New Years day, so I made the decision to not be hung over. This didn't work, as you'd imagine, since I decided to treat myself to a New Years bottle of Glenlivet 12yr. So for all my deliberation over NOT going out and getting shitfaced, I instead stayed in and got shitfaced. Alone.

Anyway, now that we are really in the runnings up to launch date, I am trying my darnedest to lose me beer belly. All my life I have been, dare I say it, trim. Until I turned 18, and for the last 4 years my stomach has grown disproportionately to the rest of my body. Its not a big secret that I enjoy a tipple; so as such, rather than give up the booze entirely and merely hope to lose the excess fat deposits, I will continue to drink, but eat healthier and exercise more.
That said, last night was my second workout in a 30 day shred, during which I had to give up half way through for fear of collapsing or puking or both. My self-esteem bottomed out, and the prospect of starvation is beginning to look like a rather fetching alternative...

Our little hitchhikers...

Well I did say I had some exciting news to announce after the New Year and you may have noticed some changes on our blog, most particularly the brand new page and brand new button.

We seem to have acquired some little hitchhikers who want to come travelling with us, I don't think we have much of a choice about it either! So we hope you keep up to date with all of their adventures! They'll be keeping their blog up to date with their views of the whole backpacking thing and it's always good to get a different perspective on things!
